Building Resilient Urban Communities
Rapid urbanization is creating a demand for urban housing, especially for the urban poor. GOI's Housing for All Mission a huge demand has been created for architects and urban planners, who can deal with the complex challenges of sustainable social housing and the development of inclusive urban communities. To complement this vertical policy making in India with a horizontal exchange of good practices, the Building Resilient Communities (BReUCom) project aims at fostering the collaboration between different Higher Education Institutes in-and outside India. The Project shall increase the relevance of Architecture and Planning Education in developing resilient urban communities. Current teaching approaches shall be assisted, and new course and curriculum development that take account of societal needs and the complex challenges of sustainable social housing shall be introduced. Seven organizations including planning and architecture institutions and NGOs are a part of this project.
