Integrated Settlements, Inclusive Cities

CURE empowers marginalized urban communities, particularly women, to actively participate in shaping inclusive, resilient, and climate responsive cities. By strengthening local governance, promoting sustainability, and leveraging people-centred data, we create scalable models for equitable urban transformation.

Who We Are

The Centre for Urban and Regional Excellence (CURE) is a not-for-profit organization advancing inclusive and sustainable urban development, with a focus on low-income and informal settlements. Rooted in a people-first, ecological approach, CURE empowers marginalized communities—especially women—as co-creators in transforming cities. Its work addresses structural inequities in housing, water, sanitation, livelihoods, and governance through integrative, decentralized, simplified, and eco-sensitive solutions, participatory planning, and community-generated data. From decentralized wastewater systems and rainwater harvesting to women-led enterprises and digital tools for governance, CURE’s interventions are locally grounded, scalable, and climate-conscious.

To further purify the water, Floating Reed Beds were introduced, naturally filtering pollutants and reducing odour. Alongside, wetland development created green buffer zones, improving air quality and enhancing the overall environment.
