Delhi, Integrated Health, Nutrition and WATSAN Project

Project Description

An Integrated Health, Nutrition and WATSAN Project was implemented with the support of Save the Children and their private sector partner – Knorr, in the slums of East Delhi. The project contributed to an increase in awareness among slum communities – of maternal, new born and childhood health and nutritional needs and services. It also helped improve access to water and sanitation services by fixing broken community infrastructure – drains, water taps, toilets, hand washing platforms, etc.; and nudge good hygiene behavior and practices – of using treated, safe drinking water, use of toilets and hand washing after defecation, and menstural hygiene practice. Linkages were made with government agencies to deliver quality maternal, newborn and child health care. The project provided direct benefits to about 70,000 people in 16 slums.
