Integrated Health, Nutrition and WATSAN Interventions
Delhi
An Integrated Health, Nutrition and WATSAN Project was implemented in partnership with Save the Children and their private sector partner Knorr, in the slums of East Delhi. Activities were organized to raise awareness among slum communities of maternal, newborn and child health and nutritional needs and available services. Under the project access to water and sanitation services was improved by fixing broken community infrastructure, drains, water taps, toilets, hand washing platforms, etc. Good hygiene behavior practices were also inculcated such as use of treated, safe drinking water, toilets, hand washing after defecation, and menstrual hygiene. Linkages were established with government agencies to deliver quality maternal, newborn and child health care. The project provided direct benefits to about 70,000 people in 16 slums.
