Swatch Delhi-Swasth, Delhi
Swach Delhi Swasth Delhi (SDSD) project aimed to improve slum dweller's access to water and sanitation services for better health and quality of life. Several knowledge products were developed by CURE as part of the project; Delhi's water and sanitation history and institutional systems were reviewed and documented, a baseline study and water audit was undertaken; a Community Based Information System (CBIS) on GIS was used to map city's slums and water and sanitation infrastructure; Ward Sanitation Plans for 4 wards were prepared. CURE also built the first simplified sewer networked to the city's trunk infrastructure to enable household toilets. Awareness was created to improve water and sanitation practices.Local capacity was built to design and de-engineer technologies for provisioning of services to slum communities.
